He received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at University of California Berkeley. He is a Professor of School of Data Science, City University of Hong Kong. He received the Eli Jury award from UC Berkeley in 2007 (presented to a graduate student or recent alumnus for outstanding achievement in the area of Systems, Communications, Control, or Signal Processing) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong Young Researcher Award in 2013. He also received several best paper awards, including IEEE ICME Best Paper Award in 2009, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia Prize Paper Award in 2009, ACM Multimedia Best Paper Award in 2012, IEEE INFOCOM Best Poster Award in 2021, and ACM e-Energy Best Paper Award in 2023. His recent research interests include online optimization and algorithms, machine learning in power system operation, intelligent transportation, distributed optimization, delay-critical networking, and capitalizing the benefit of data-driven prediction in algorithm/system design. He has published 500+ books/bookchapters/papers with 17,500+ citations and h-index 71. Isao Echizen received B.S., M.S., and D.E. degrees from the Tokyo Institute of
Technology, Japan, in 1995, 1997, and 2003, respectively. He joined Hitachi, Ltd. in
1997 and until 2007 was a research engineer in the company's systems development
laboratory. He is currently engaged in research on multimedia security and
multimedia forensics. He currently serves as a research director in CREST FakeMedia
project, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). He received the Best Paper Award
from the IPSJ in 2005 and 2014, the Fujio Frontier Award and the Image Electronics
Technology Award in 2010, the One of the Best Papers Award from the Information
Security and Privacy Conference in 2011, the IPSJ Nagao Special Researcher Award in
2011, the DOCOMO Mobile Science Award in 2014, the Information Security Cultural
Award in 2016, and the IEEE Workshop on Information Forensics and Security Best
Paper Award in 2017. He was a member of the Information Forensics and Security

representative on IFIP TC11 (Security and Privacy Protection in Information

Hesuan Hu (Senior Member, IEEE) received the BS degree in computer engineering and the MS and PhD degrees in electro-mechanical engineering from Xidian University, Xi'an, China, in 2003, 2005, and 2010, respectively. He is currently a full professor with Xidian University. He is a holder of more than 40 issued and filed patents in his fields of expertise. His current research interests include discrete event systems and their supervisory control techniques, Petri nets, automated manufacturing systems, multimedia streaming systems, autonomous vehicles, cyber security, and artificial intelligence. He has more than 170 publications in journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings in the above areas. He was a recipient of many national and international awards, including the Franklin V. Taylor Memorial Award for Outstanding Papers from the IEEE SMC Society, in 2010 and the finalists of the Best Automation Paper from the IEEE ICRA Society, in 2013, 2016, and 2017. Dr. Yongsheng Ma has joined Southern University of Science and Technology
(SUSTech) in Shenzhen, China since July, 2021 as a full professor. Before that,
Dr. Ma had been a full professor with the University of Alberta (UA) since 2007.
He was an associate professor with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
during 2000-2007. Dr. Ma started his career as a polytechnic lecturer in
Singapore (1993-1996); and then a research fellow, senior research fellow and
group manager (1996-2000) at Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology.
Dr. Ma received his B.Eng. from Tsinghua University, Beijing (1986), both M.Sc.
(1990) and Ph.D. (1994) from UMIST, UK. Dr. Ma has had an established research
profile with many research projects from different sources, and published more
than 200 papers internationally in recognized top journals, conferences, and
book chapters. Dr. Ma had served as an Editorial Board Member of Advanced
Engineering Informatics (ADVEI, Elsevier) since 2012, and became an associate
editor since 2020. Concurrently, he also serves as an associate editor for ASME
Journal of Computer Information Science and Engineering (JCISE), and an
Editorial Member of Scientific Reports (Springer Nature). Dr. Ma had also been
an associate editor of IEEE Transaction of Automation Science and Engineering
(2009-2013). Dr. Ma is a member of ASEE, SME, SPE, ASME, CSME and a Canada
(Alberta) registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) since 2009. In 2012, he won
the prestigious ASTech award sponsored by The Alberta Science and Technology
Leadership Foundation together with Drader Manufacturing Ltd. Dr. Ma had also

University as a Chair Professor in 2018, he is the Founder and Principle
Investigator the Center of Excellence in Biomedical Research on
Advances-in-Chips Neurotechnologies (CenBRAIN Neurotech) in Westlake

Ying Tan is a full professor of Peking University, director of
Computational Intelligence Laboratory at Peking University, and the
inventor of Fireworks Algorithm (FWA). He worked as a professor of
Faculty of Design, Kyushu University, Japan, in 2018, at Columbia
University as senior research fellow in 2017, and at Chinese University
of Hong Kong as research fellow, and at University of Science and
Technology of China in 2005-2006 as a professor under the 100-talent
program of CAS. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of IASEI Transactions
on Swarm Intelligence, and International Journal of Computational
Intelligence and Pattern Recognition (IJCIPR), the Associate Editor of
IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics (CYB), etc. He also served as an Editor
of Springer's Lecture Notes on Computer Science (LNCS) for 50+ volumes,
and Guest Editors of several referred Journals. He won the 2nd-Class
Natural Science Award of China in 2009 and 2nd-Class Natural Science

faculty at the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering,

professor with substantiation. Her research interests are in neural
decoding of brain-machine interfaces, adaptive signal processing,
computational neuroscience, and neuromorphic engineering. She serves
as the Chair of the IEEE EMBS Neural Engineering Tech Committee, the
chair of the IEEE BRAIN publication subcommittee, and the board
member of Brain Computer Interfaces Society. She is the
Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Brain Newsletter. She also serves on the

Dong Xu is Curators' Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with appointments in the Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center and the Informatics Institute at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1995 and did two years of postdoctoral work at the US National Cancer Institute. He was a Staff Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory until 2003 before joining the University of Missouri, where he served as Department Chair of Computer Science during 2007-2016 and Director of Information Technology Program during 2017-2020. Over the past 30+ years, he has conducted research in many areas of computational biology and bioinformatics, including single-cell data analysis, protein structure prediction and modeling, protein post-translational modifications, protein localization prediction, computational systems biology, biological information systems, and bioinformatics applications in human, microbes, and plant. His research since 2012 has focused on the interface between bioinformatics and deep learning. He has published more than 400 papers with more than 23,000 citations and an H-index of 78 according to Google Scholar. He was elected to the rank of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellow in 2015 and American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) Fellow in 2020.

Hai-Ning Liang is Professor of Computing and inaugural Head of the Department of Computing at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), Suzhou, China. Pengcheng Liu is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of York, UK. He received his BEng and MSc degrees from Zhongyuan University of Technology, China in 2007 and 2012 respectively, and received a PhD degree from Bournemouth University, UK in 2017. Before joining York, he held several academic roles as an Associate Professor at Cardiff Metropolitan University, a Research Fellow at University of Lincoln and a Lecturer at Zhongyuan University of Technology. He is a key member of YorRobots (as part of the UK-RAS Network), Institute for Safe Autonomy (ISA) and Assuring Autonomy International Programme (AAIP), where research facility has been established to address global challenges in assuring the safety and autonomy of robotics and other systems that use artificial intelligence. His research interests include bio-inspired robotics, robot learning, applied control and intelligent systems. He has published over 80 referred journal and conference papers in the field of robotics, applied control and AI. He has managed and involved in research projects worth about 2.6 millions pounds funded by UK EPSRC, Innovate UK, EU H2020, and industries. Dr Liu has strong research collaboration with partners from over 10 countries, such as China, Sweden, Netherland, Germany, Malaysia, Brunei, Australia, Indonesia and UK.
